About A Family of Care
We offer high-quality, personalized senior care in a warm residential setting, where dignity is protected, routines are intentional, and families feel confident in their choice.
Our Beginning
A Family of Care began with family.
When Kathleen’s mother Eileen’s health declined, Kathleen and Mark chose to care for her themselves. What they discovered was simple but powerful: with thoughtful nutrition, consistent routines, and genuine daily engagement, quality of life can improve, even in seasons of decline.
That experience reshaped their expectations of senior care. It should feel personal. Intentional. Steady. Respectful.
Brian’s journey was shaped by witnessing the compassionate hospice care his own mother received. The attentiveness shown during that vulnerable time left a lasting impression and inspired him to become a certified administrator committed to providing families with the same level of dignity and support.
Together, they built A Family of Care around one clear belief:
Seniors deserve personalized, dignified care — and families deserve peace of mind.
Our Philosophy
At A Family of Care, we believe that thriving doesn’t stop with age. Every resident deserves to feel stimulated, connected, capable, and joyful. That’s why we thoughtfully design our monthly activity calendars to nurture the whole person — mentally, emotionally, socially, and physically.
Mental Enrichment
We keep minds engaged through brain games, memory exercises, reading, music, puzzles, storytelling, baking, and creative projects. For residents with cognitive challenges, we gently incorporate routines and stimulation that help slow decline while preserving dignity and confidence. Staying mentally active helps residents feel sharp, capable, and involved in daily life.
Emotional Enrichment
Emotional well-being is at the heart of everything we do. From one-on-one conversations to celebrating birthdays and milestones, we create moments that help residents feel seen and valued. Familiar music, comforting routines, and meaningful traditions provide reassurance and stability — especially for those navigating memory loss.
Social Enrichment
Loneliness can take a toll on overall health. That’s why we cultivate daily opportunities for connection — shared meals, group games, movie nights, gardening, holiday celebrations, and simply sitting together and chatting. We intentionally foster an atmosphere where friendships form naturally and everyone feels included.
Physical Enrichment
Movement is essential for maintaining strength, balance, and independence. Residents participate in gentle stretching, guided exercises, walking in the backyard, light dancing, and mobility support tailored to their abilities. Even small amounts of consistent movement can significantly improve mood, posture, and overall vitality.
Our Standard of Care
Every member of our team is state-certified and completes 36 hours of required training, along with 20 hours of hands-on shadowing within our home before independently caring for residents. We ensure that every caregiver understands not just procedures — but our standard of care.
But training alone isn’t enough.
We intentionally hire individuals who have a genuine heart for serving the elderly. Patience. Gentleness. Attentiveness. These qualities cannot be taught in a classroom — but they are essential in our homes.
Our caregivers assist with activities of daily living, medication management, hygiene, mobility, meals, and companionship. More importantly, they take time to sit, listen, laugh, encourage, and connect.
Because at the end of the day, we believe:
“We don’t care how much you know, until we know how much you care.”
For Families
We understand how heavy this decision can feel. Many of the families who walk through our doors have toured larger facilities that didn’t feel quite right. They’re looking for something more personal. More attentive. More human.
Our role is not just to care for your loved one, it’s to give you confidence in your choice.
